Job Title: Development Manager
Reports To: Chief Growth Officer (CGO)
Position Type: Full-time, exempt (nights and weekends as needed)
Salary Range: $42,000-52,000 DOE



Job Description:
The Development Manager supports the fundraising efforts of RMHC-NM by executing a wide range of development strategies. This includes cultivating donor relationships, managing fundraising campaigns, writing grants, supporting signature events, and overseeing donor engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of families in need.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute innovative annual fund campaigns in coordination with the marketing team.
  • Collaborate on content for direct mail, email appeals, and social media promotions.
  • Maintain and manage an annual fundraising calendar and help develop a multi-year fundraising strategy with the CGO.
  • Accurately record and manage donor data and interactions.
  • Coordinate with the Business Operations Manager to ensure timely acknowledgment of all gifts.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with current donors and identify potential new supporters.
  • Research new grant opportunities and manage the full lifecycle of grant proposals.
  • Write, submit, and track grant applications and reporting requirements.
  • Update and maintain grant management and tracking systems.
  • Work with the CGO to create, plan, and execute signature fundraising and donor appreciation events.
  • Evaluate and support community-hosted Events by Others (EBOs), determining RMHC-NM's participation and providing event logistics support.
  • Represent RMHC-NM at community events and partner engagements.
  • Manage the Round Up & Donation Box Program and maintain relationships with participating McDonald’s locations and staff.

Ancillary Job Functions
  • Maintain a collaborative and positive working relationship with staff, volunteers, donors, and stakeholders.
  • Uphold confidentiality and privacy standards for all donors, families, and community partners.
  • Represent RMHC-NM professionally at all times and communicate the mission with clarity and compassion.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Stay current on nonprofit fundraising trends and bring innovative ideas to the team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CGO.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or a similar development role.
  • Working knowledge of fundraising principles and donor stewardship.
  • Strong communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal.
  • Experience with donor databases and CRM systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with grant writing and reporting.
  • Familiarity with social media and digital fundraising tools.
  • Event planning experience is a plus.
Work Environment
  • Primary work will be conducted in an office setting and at event venues.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds may be required.
  • Flexibility is necessary, including availability for evening and weekend work as needed.
  • RMHC-NM operates 24/7 to support families, and occasional non-traditional hours may be required.
